We know that visiting the dentist can sometimes come with questions. Here are answers to some of the things our patients ask us most often.

Can’t find what you’re looking for? Our team is always happy to help.

Yes, we welcome new private patients to Pure Dentistry in Harpenden. We will explain any recommended treatment clearly and give you the opportunity to ask questions before deciding how you would like to proceed. dentist near me

Are you accepting new patients?

The right interval between dental check-ups and hygiene visits varies from person to person and depends on your individual oral health. Following your examination and initial hygiene clean, your dentist and hygienist will recommend how often you should return for routine appointments and hygiene care.

What should I do if I have a dental emergency?

If you have toothache, swelling, a broken tooth or another urgent dental problem, please contact the practice as soon as possible. Our team will ask about your symptoms and help arrange the most appropriate appointment for you.

Absolutely. We understand that many patients feel anxious about dental treatment. Here at Pure Dentistry, our team will take the time to listen to your concerns, explain what is happening at each stage and allow you to take things at a pace that feels comfortable. Please let us know when booking if you are particularly nervous so we can support you from the start.

How much will my dental treatment cost?

The cost of treatment depends on your individual needs and the type of treatment required. We aim to be clear and transparent about fees. Your dentist will explain your treatment options and associated costs before treatment begins, so you can make an informed decision about your care.

Do you offer cosmetic dental treatments?

Yes. We offer a range of cosmetic treatments including professional teeth whitening, composite bonding, veneers and clear aligners, as well as restorative treatments that can improve both the appearance and function of your smile. Your clinician can discuss your goals with you and explain which options may be suitable.

Is the practice accessible?

Our reception area has ramp access. Our clinical treatment areas are currently located on the first floor and are accessible by stairs only. We recognise that this may make access difficult for some patients and we are actively exploring ways to improve accessibility. If you are unable to use the stairs, please contact our team before booking so we can discuss your needs and, where appropriate, help direct you to a suitable neighbouring practice. A hearing loop is also available.

What is included in the practice plan?

We offer separate adult and children's membership practice plans. Each plan offers 2 free examinations a year for adults and children, as well as 2 free hygiene visits for adults and 1 free hygiene visit for children a year. The plan also includes 10% of all routine treatment, 50% off milk teeth treatment and Global Dental Accident and Emergency Schemes. For more information on our practice plans, please visit our Memberships page.

Can I spread the cost of my dental treatment?

Yes, we offer monthly payment options that can help spread the cost of certain dental treatments, making payments more manageable. Please speak to our reception team for more information. They can explain the available options and help you find out whether a payment plan is suitable for your treatment.

Do children receive free dental check ups?

Yes. Children under 16 can receive a free dental check-up at Pure Dentistry when they have an actively registered parent/guardian who has either had a dental check-up with us within the last 12 months or has a dental check-up on the same day as the child. If these conditions do not apply, a children's dental check-up is £32.50. If you're unsure whether your child qualifies, please contact our reception team and they'll be happy to check for you.

Do you provide NHS dental treatment?

Pure Dentistry is a private dental practice in Harpenden, so we do not provide NHS dental treatment. We aim to keep our fees clear and competitive, while giving patients access to a wide range of dental care in a comfortable, modern setting. To help make private dentistry more manageable, we also offer membership plans for routine care and payment plan options to allow eligible patients to spread the cost over time. If you would like to know more about our fees or the options available, our reception team will be happy to help.
