Hygiene
A hygienist appointment typically includes a professional clean to remove plaque, tartar and surface staining that brushing at home may not fully remove. Your hygienist will also assess your gum health and provide professional advice on brushing, interdental cleaning and maintaining a healthy mouth to prevent gum disease.
Fillings
Fillings are used to repair teeth that have been affected by decay, wear or minor damage. The damaged area is carefully removed and the tooth is restored with a filling material to help rebuild its shape and strength.

Benefits include restoring comfortable chewing, helping prevent further damage, protecting the remaining tooth structure and, with tooth-coloured fillings, achieving a natural-looking result.

Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment removes infection from inside a tooth to relieve pain and help save the natural tooth. The tooth is carefully cleaned, sealed and restored for protection. We know that treatment can be daunting. Here at Pure Dentistry in Harpenden, we focus on keeping you comfortable throughout treatment and can also manage more complex root canal cases within the practice.
Extractions
Tooth extraction may be needed when a tooth is too badly damaged or infected to be predictably saved with treatments such as a filling, crown or root canal treatment.

Removing the tooth can help relieve pain, clear infection and prevent the problem from affecting the surrounding teeth and gums. We will always explain your options first and, where appropriate, discuss ways to replace the missing tooth afterwards.

Same Day Crowns & Bridges
Crowns and bridges are custom-made restorations used to strengthen damaged teeth or replace missing teeth. A crown fits over a weakened or heavily restored tooth, while a bridge can replace a gap by using the surrounding teeth for support.Â

At Pure Dentistry in Harpenden, suitable crowns and bridges can be made in house and can be cemented on the same day - meaning fewer appointments, less waiting and a quicker return to comfortable eating and smiling.
Veneers
Veneers are thin, custom made restorations placed over the front surface of teeth to improve their shape, colour and overall appearance. They can be used to enhance teeth that are chipped, discoloured or uneven, helping create a more balanced smile.

The benefits of veneers include a natural looking finish, improved tooth shape and colour, and a long-lasting cosmetic result when properly cared for. Treatment is carefully planned to suit your individual smile and facial features.

Implants
Dental implants are a long-term option for replacing missing teeth. A small implant is placed into the jawbone and, once healed, can support a crown, bridge or other restoration designed to look and function like a natural tooth.

Benefits include improved chewing and confidence, a secure and natural looking result, support for surrounding teeth, and helping to restore your smile without relying solely on removable dentures.
Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening is a professional treatment designed to lighten the natural colour of your teeth and reduce the appearance of staining caused by factors such as food, drinks and ageing.

The benefits include a brighter, fresher-looking smile, improved confidence and treatment carried out under professional dental supervision. Whitening can also be tailored to your individual needs to achieve a natural looking result.

Active Aligners
Active Aligners are a discreet and affordable way to straighten teeth using a series of custom made, removable clear trays. Each aligner is designed to gently move your teeth over time, with treatment planned around your individual smile.

The benefits include a nearly invisible appearance, the convenience of removing the aligners for eating and cleaning, and a more comfortable, flexible alternative to traditional fixed braces for suitable patients.
Composite Bonding
Composite bonding is a minimally invasive cosmetic treatment that uses tooth coloured filling material to improve the shape, size and appearance of teeth. It can be used to repair small chips, close minor gaps and improve uneven edges or worn edges.

The benefits include a natural looking result, little or no removal of healthy tooth structure in many cases, and the ability to enhance your smile in a relatively simple and conservative way.

Mouthguards
Mouthguards are custom made appliances designed to protect your teeth and support different needs. Grinding mouthguards can help protect teeth from wear caused by clenching and grinding, sports mouthguards help reduce the risk of dental injuries during contact or high-impact activities, and snoring mouthguards may help suitable patients by gently repositioning the jaw to improve airflow during sleep.
